Great news about the hedgehogs and lovely that you have your ladies group to share all things hedgehog with!
Some hogs will take naps during the night – sometimes in seemingly strange places but maybe it makes sense to them i.e. maybe sheltered from the wind in the bin area? The food and water bowls probably don’t seem uncomfortable to them with all those spines cushioning them. I have had nests built here on top of food bowls – although I hope the water bowl was empty by then! They may be sleeping a bit more than before in the build up to hibernation. And they might disappear for hibernation soon, but it won’t be long until the Spring when hopefully we’ll see all our old friends back again.
