So. Probably about 3 years ago we’d randomly get a big lump of a hog snuffling round especially when we had BBQs. One night we had the doors open and he was wandering around the patio as usual, didn’t think anything of it, probably went to bed at 1am and get woken up by my wife crashing around at 2am. I didn’t hear it but he’d climbed up the stairs and was snuffling for food under the bed, he got put back in the garden.
A year later developers bought the house he lived in (the old boy who owned it died) and they cut down the garden. We saw him more and more until winter. Come spring my wife was potting plants and was going through a bag of compost… Guess who was hibernating?
So. I made 3 hog habitats. He moved into one, not long after a medium and small turned up and took the other two. We had sheltered hog food for them (2 stations), one night Hogzilla bumped into the little one. I have never seen anything close to it. Hogzilla chased him down, grabbed him by the foot and just started swinging him. The camera was over 10ft away and you could hear him screaming. We never had another encounter and until April this year when all 3 fled they stayed out of each others way.
I miss Hogzilla, psycho or not he was fun to watch, especially when he tried to hide but was far too big (estimate 12+ inches long).
