Long term hedgehogs
-
We have had 3 hedgehogs coming into our garden every night most of the summer. One, she hibernated in our garden and checked on her house most nights ( we have 2 wildlife cameras) but over the last 2 weeks all of them have slowly disappeared and now we have not seen them for over a week. Fox’s and badgers are about but not in our garden, and we are now wondering if they have all hibernated early, or whether all of them have been caught. Please can you let me know your thoughts?
Lottie , the same thing is happening in my garden. I had 3 hedgehogs in early summer, 1 got booted out by my main hedgehog who has been feeding and sleeping in my hedgehog house since August 2025. The 2nd one disappeared approx 1 week ago. Over the last few days Oggie my longest tenant started to steal straw from his last winter hibernation house . I am trying to track him through my wildlife camera, and think he maybe building a new nest under my shed. He is very chubby and has been pushing himself through the doorway into his feeding station. He has been eating less food over the last few days.. Last night no sighting at all, so I am presuming he has gone into hibernation. Last year he hibernated in late iOctober . I live in Lytham st Anne’s, so are the hedgehogs predicting an early winter.! No predators in my garden, only
Friendly cats.
