Do you feed hedgehogs? Let us know!

13th January 2022

Research has shown that UK hedgehog populations are faring better in urban and suburban areas. Nevertheless, the last State of Britain’s Hedgehogs report indicated that hedgehog populations have declined by 30% in urban areas since 2000. Therefore, although gardens clearly provide a valuable resource for hedgehogs, we need to identify specific ways in which we can help hedgehogs in urban areas. One obvious mechanism is to provide supplementary food

Therefore, undergraduate students supervised by Dr Phil Baker at the University of Reading are collecting information on our habits and issues when it comes to feeding hedgehogs.

Do you provide supplementary food for hedgehogs in your garden?

If the answer is YES, you can help us examine factors associated with feeding hedgehogs by completing the below survey. This should take no more than 10-15 minutes. Your contribution will be vital to this research, so thank you to all who take the time to help us.

*Survey closed – thanks to all who took part!*
