Home Forums Hedgehog signs and sightings Marking Hedgehogs? Reply To: Marking Hedgehogs?

I am very much anti-marking and it annoys me reading people trying to justify their actions. Imagine if a hedgehog visits 20 gardens in one night and each person marked that hedgehog? These are wild animals and just because they are easy to catch and won’t take your finger off if you get too close isn’t reason enough to mark them.

I can understand rescue centres marking them, but for joe public there really isn’t any excuse. As Nic keeps saying, if you really want to document what hedgehogs are coming to your garden then learn who they are with their natural markings.

I wish the protection status of the hedgehog was changed to make such things illegal. It wouldn’t completely stop it happening I am sure, but it might make someone think twice.
