At this time of year I would keep feeding the hog, but take steps to make life more difficult for the rat. There are some ideas in: https://www.hedgehogstreet.org/forums/topic/hedgehogs-and-rats/
But please ignore anything about traps (not a good idea to use where there are hogs around). There is an inappropriate entry (as things stand) near the end of the topic. Realistically I suspect many people have occasional visits from rats, they just may not know about them.
