Hi kattaddorra

Welcome to the Forum. Lovely to hear about the hogs there. Nice that you have had hogs regularly visiting for so long. The little one may not have hibernated properly that year. Two years running now, I have had a hoglet who hasn’t hibernated. In both cases they visited every night except when unable to because of snow! We seem to be hearing of hogs not hibernating more often these days. The one this year actually did quite a lot of foraging, even in the winter. If the hog there was a she it’s quite possible she would still be visiting. I have found, here, that the male youngsters tend to move further afield, but the females seem more likely to stay in the area.

You’re absolutely right – hogs are fascinating – there’s always something new to learn about them.
