Don’t worry, it’s still early for the hogs to return. I only had my first returner a couple of days ago.
What a coincidence that you are making a new flower bed! I would make piles of at least 3 high, but if you make higher piles they take up less space. If you put the grass bit upside down, it doesn’t grow quite so much.
