He could be planning on using it for hibernation later, or it may be a practice nest, various possibilities. But sounds similar to what one here did. He napped in the nest on and off during the nights but mostly went of somewhere else for the day. Although he did occasionally spend the day there – but that was in the winter – he didn’t hibernate. But they do apparently sometimes change nests during hibernation.
