It can potentially be dangerous if inhaled as it consists of two different types of silica and long term exposure is not recommended. Although it is used in many applications and there are food grade versions respiratory masks are required when handling it in large concentrations/enclosed spaces.

Although it would be great to find a solution to the fleas and ticks hedgehogs always seem to be plagued with I’m not sure it’s a good idea to put this stuff in the confines of a hog house where the hog is potentially going to be breathing it in.
