hello, I have weighed a few hogs over the years. One, which was out and about in the dark in January a couple of years ago, tipped the scales at over 800g so was released immediately back into the garden as he seemed well and feisty. He (or she) continued to return to the garden for the rest of the year. Last year a large hog which visited the feeding box seemed to have a ‘weepy’ eye when I checked the trailcam footage. In spite of being caught, taken to the local SSPCA officer for checking (the very large hog refused to uncurl so eventually we gave up and took him back to the feeder) he continued to return to the garden until hibernation time. This experience did not deter him from coming back every night (and the video showed the eye improving over the following week).
