Yes hedgehog do tend to poo around feeding areas, especially if there are multiple hogs present. It’s best to keep feeding areas as clean as possible to avoid infection, so ideally clean the area daily. Hogs would not normally gather in the numbers they sometimes do at feeding stations which means they are more likely to exchange any infections in those areas than they would in a more natural situation.
If the poos are quite dry you can probably brush them up daily and wash less often, but if they are not so dry, hose and brush daily would be ideal. Rain alone is not likely to be sufficient – as well as there being less control on where poos end up!
Luckily the hogs here tend to be quite well behaved in that respect, although they do tend to turn up singly most of the time at the moment. You might find it helps a bit to spread the food out, i.e. if you use bowls, put them further apart.
