It’s been over a year, but I thought I’d report back as I’m on here with a new hedgehog question, and this one had a happy ending. I took the hedgehog to my local hedgehog rescue, and he turned out not to have lungworm. He was a very good weight, fit and healthy. The rescuer strongly suspected that the wheezing was the result of permanent damage from a previous bout of lungworm. In fact, a few years ago, she had treated a male hedgehog caught in my next door neighbour’s garden for lungworm. It could well have been him! The damage didn’t seem to be causing him any problems. He’s back this year, wheezing away, but apparently happy!
