Hi
There are several reasons that it could have come out in the day. The weather currently is not friendly for hogs as they find it difficult to find food when the ground is so hard which puts stress on them. Hogs naturally carry internal parasites from the food they eat. Under stress these parasites can become unbalanced and make the hog sick.
The second reason could be that it’s a nursing mum, they would often come out during the day.
Have you asked your local rescue for advice? They may be willing to at least look at the hog – it would be easy to determine if it’s nursing. If not your local vet should be able to assist – check if they have a wildlife nurse/vet
Finally hogs have a fast gut transition time and often produce a green poo so not always a major panic, but in your case I really would seek help. If it is sick you won’t be able to help it, it needs proper help.
Always remember that if a wild animal appears ill it’s usually really ill as they hide it well
