Our first hog appeared on 11th March. It’s one of 2 hoglets we were concerned about as they were born very late in September. They both went into hibernation mid November; one we believe in the old den near our compost bin and the other in a brand new hog house. The survivor appears to be the “compost bin” hog and sadly there has been no sighting of the other or disturbance at the entrance to the house.
Our resident went straight to food and water we had put out and has literally been eating like a hog ever since! We are really overjoyed to have one survivor and wonder how long it will stay. It has never even been down the patio steps yet let alone out of the garden and has no idea there is big world out there!
It was even out on the night it snowed and temperatures went below freezing and was joined by a wood mouse taking advantage of spillage from the hog bowl. We look forward eagerly to more hog visitors.
