Hedgehog Feeding Station
-
Hi all,
I joined this site early in the year but this is my first post. I am part of a group of ladies who love all wildlife but especially hedgies since they are declining in numbers. We have a large communal garden and two sleeping/hibernation boxes that get used quite regularly. My question is I only have one feeding station and quite a few more hedgies visiting now, usually 5 or 6 and on a few occasions we have had a bundle in the box with two of them, which was fascinating to watch. The other night I had 3 in there feeding from water/food bowl quite amicably so is it a good idea to put another feeding station out ?
Thank you for any replies.

I have three feeding stations here in Margate in my garden. Reckon the more the merrier is a good idea if you can afford it and can ensure that the cats cannot access the stations. My water bowls (from the tap daily) are separate out in the garden along with a spread of dried food, so they still have to do at least, a bit of foraging.
Hedgehogs for the last couple of years have decided to use the feeding station (number 1of the 3) to start overwintering in and have ignored the hibernacula.
Never easy to, as a Human, judge what they will do next, as I often say when doing the presentations.
