Garden Wildlife Health (GWH) Project launched today

16th January 2014

Britain’s biggest public-led investigation into the health of native wildlife has begun today (16 January), with the launch of the national Garden Wildlife Health project.

Garden Wildlife Health is a project set up by the wildlife vets at the Institute of Zoology, ZSL in collaboration with the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO), Froglife and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB).

Hedgehogs are one of the focus species of the project which will be investigating whether infectious or non-infectious diseases are a factor in the hedgehog decline and establishing what a natural level of disease and parasitism may be.
