Hedgehog Hibernation Emergence Survey

20th December 2011

Starts 1st February 2012, please register your interest before then in order to take part.

Studies have shown that climate change has affected the behaviour of migrating birds, trees coming into leaf and frogs spawning. How climate change is affecting hedgehogs is unclear but changes in weather conditions over time will almost certainly impact upon their hibernation behaviour.
We propose to gather current records of when hedgehogs begin to emergefrom hibernation, to compare with data collected throughout the 1970’s by Dr Pat Morris.

The survey runs from 1st February 2012 until the end of August 2012. Please email hedgehog@ptes.org to register your interest in taking part. We will then send an email asking you to sign up as soon as the survey page is up and running. If you have already signed up as a Hedgehog Street Champion we will automatically email you inviting you to take part so there is no need to register your interest again at this stage.
