Hedgehogs in schools
6th December 2018
We had some great news earlier this year from the children at Lydford Primary School in Devon, whose Year 1 class have been learning about hedgehogs this term.
Following our tips and advice, and downloading our free instructions, they built a brilliant hedgehog house in the school grounds. And ‘lo and behold, within just a few days they were thrilled to see a resident hedgehog move in. How exciting!
To also help hedgehog conservation and raise awareness of the plight of our spiky friends, they organised a fantastic cake sale, making some hedgehoggy treats with the help of hedgehog shaped biscuit cutters. In total they raised a wonderful £10 for hedgehog conservation.
Check out their great video about all the other hedgehoggy things they got up to.
It’s thanks to the wonderful and caring people like the students and teachers at Lydford Primary School who help to make a real difference and help us protect hedgehogs from disappearing from our countryside and gardens. Hedgehog Champions are critical to helping hedgehogs nationwide.
