Last month Oliver Colvile MP launched a petition to increase the legal protection offered to hedgehogs.
This will benefit them in a number of ways, but mainly through improved requirements for new developments to be hedgehog-friendly.
After the first 10,000 signatures, Defra made some initial comments.
