Hi Sparkle85, just to confirm – hedgehogs can climb – they are in fact quite good at climbing, (little Houdini’s if you try and keep them in any sort of captive state – for their own good of course!) although they will always go for the easiest option first. you could position a hole at the bottom of the fence, above the gravel board and build up either side or you can get a mechanical device, probably hire one, that will drill a perfect hole through walls and concrete etc,. Hugh Warwick was showing one of these off when he was promoting the Hedgehog Highway theme again a few weeks ago.
You could burrow underneath as suggested by Simbo65 – as once the hogs have a route they will keep it in working order through regular use and return to it the year after also. Best of luck!
