2 hedgehogs together – early evening, is this normal? Seen one on its own as early as 2pm on, however looked to be gathering leaves

You’ll often see more than one hedgehog in the garden usually later in the evening, but sometimes earlier depending on how hot & dry the day has been.

I’ve just been reading Hedgehog Cabin on Twitter & a hedgehog gathering leaves at 2pm is building a nest & though they shouldn’t be out in the day this is one of the few reasons it’s OK as long as she’s moving normally. Check out Hedgehog Cabin’s website it’s full of vital information re behaviour, food etc & when it’s appropriate to intervene.
