Congenital or injury?
-
We have a female hedgehog who has been visiting the feeding station frequently since the spring. Her left hind foot/leg doesn’t have the strength or manoeuvrability in it as the others. She cannot control the foot sufficiently to actually scratch herself although she tries and when scratching with the right leg/foot has little strength to support herself with the left. However, she appears fit and healthy and now has one baby which she brings with her each night, appearing for the first time this week (14th Oct.).
There does not look to be any deformity as far as I can tell by the videos, although I would say that the muscles are possibly not as well developed. My inclination is that it may be a congenital problem rather than an injury, although I’m sure we’ll never know. However I’m so glad that she makes the most of the food that we supply and suspect that she doesn’t travel any further than necessary to feed.
Anyone with similar experience? I’ll post a video once I’ve changed the format.
Many thanks, Jacqui
