From Cambridgeshire: I managed to capture hundreds of short videos last night (20 seconds each) of courtship behaviour. At one point the male barged into my camera, turning it so it gave an even better view. The female sometimes gives him a bit of a barge, and they take occasional breaks for snacks, but it’s looking hopeful for the patter of tiny hedgehog feet.

Sounds promising, although this courtship circling (which sometimes lasts for hours) doesn’t always lead to mating – after all that! But fingers crossed.
