    Afternoon all,

Living near the coast just West of the Isle of Wight. We get alot of hedgehogs in the general area and this area has low traffic! Almost nothing past 9pm

Does anyone know of any public parks that have put in hedgehogs homes and given hedgehogs a better chance of living, or any way to get in contact with the correct people to promote hedgehogs with the council?

We have a large park with lots of wild areas and really wanting to help the hedgehogs as I have moved out into a flat compared to when I lived with parents who had a garden.

Was thinking of emailing hedgehog street or BHPS itself to see what I can do but thought to ask you lot before.

    Thanks Thomas

I know we have mutiple in the local area and want to help out the community of them.

    Hi Thomas

In principle, it sounds like a great idea, but I think you will need to contact whoever is responsible for the upkeep of the area concerned. You may be able to find out if your local council has a Biodiversity Initiative. I suspect they are all different and some more amenable to this sort of thing than others. Also if you have a local Wildlife Trust they may be able to help. It may help persuade if there was an offer to help with upkeep, etc. – maybe if there was a group of people volunteering. Also is there a school nearby who might be involved.

Having said all that I haven’t ever tried that sort of thing, personally – just a few ideas that came into my head! But certainly sounds worth having a try. It might be worth emailing the Hedgehog Officer at PTES, as well – as you mentioned. To see if they have any ideas. I would use hedgehog@ptes.org

Good luck! Let us know how you get on.
