I have just been out to check the feeding stations and found a large hedgehog asleep on one of the food dishes. It has been getting up on off over the past few weeks but has always returned to wherever its nest is. It does not seem normal for it be asleep with no nest material around it so I have brought it indoors placed it in our hedgehog box with food and water near a radiator in case it is cold.
I think the best thing is to see if it wakes up and monitor how active it is or if it has been injured and if all is well release it into one of our hegehog houses tonight. Anyone got any other ideas?

    Hi Colin

If you are concerned about the hog, I would ring BHPS on 01584 890801 to get details of your nearest hog carers/rehabilitators and take their advice.

My initial thought is, I would not keep the hog near a radiator, but if it is already there, maybe move it gradually away to somewhere cooler. It may need to be checked over by someone now, but take the BHPS/carer-rehabilitator’s advice.
