Just saw hedgehog, that’s been overwintering in a homemade hog house in front garden for the first time, enjoying a dish of dried cat food. Looks healthy and a good weight. Is it too early for it to be up and about. Quite mild weather in Cardiff.

    Hi Frantastic

Great to hear there is a hog up and about there. I am a bit inclined to think that the hogs know best whether it’s o.k to come out of hibernation. As long as they can find food and water – which well done for providing (I’m guessing you did provide water as well) – there’s no reason for them not to be out now.

Good luck. Fingers crossed for a happy hog season!

Hi nick, thank you so much for replying. This is the first time I’ve had a hedgehog to stay, living in an urban environment. Leaving food and water out. Wasn’t sure if was to early for him, too big to be a lady, up and about. Hopefully he will stay around. Warmest regards.
