I just watched our hedgehog acting strangely beside the wooden telegraph pole in our street. He looked like he was anointing himself and then standing on his hind legs rubbing himself against the pole. It looked to be more than just an itch.

    Hi HaggisHedgehogs

It’s possible that it was some sort of scent on the telegraph pole which triggered the self annointing. It isn’t fully understood, but there have been suggestions that self annointing might sometimes be triggered by scent.
