So after having our first little visitor last year, i decided to try and encourage him to stay this year. Instead of buying a Hedgehog house i decided to recycle an old plastic Compost bin. Placing the bin in a sheltered part of my garden, i stuffed it with straw and propped open the door slightly, low and behold we got our first visit two nights ago when the weather turned cold. I placed a variety of food and water out for Sonic ( our name for him/her) and tonight he’s reappeared looking for food, not only that he’s retreated into our Hedgehog Hotel. We are utterly delighted that not only has he returned but he feels safe in our homemade Hedgehog home. We hope he stays for full board 😉

    Hi Bonnie
That’s great news. I have similar story with a juvenile taking residence in one of my make shift kennels that I’d filled with straw. He remains curled up & hopefully healthy. I haven’t seen a hedgehog for a while now but I continue to leave food & water out.
Hope he stays for the duration 😀
