During this crisis, many small charities may be forced to close down. Hedgehog and wildlife charities, in general, will be some of the first hit as focus naturally switches to people. The Small Charity Coalition is talking to Govt about the charity sector and support but many small charities do not have sufficient income to be registered with the Charity Commission and we suspect that any support will go there.

Most of the large charities have £millions in reserves to allow them to carry on for many months without donations coming in, but thousands of small charities run hand to mouth, just managing to cover their day to day expenses and nothing to spare.

Since this crisis, volunteers may be in lockdown, or self-isolating, fundraising events are non-existent, and charity shops have closed.

If you normally donate to the big boys, during this crisis please consider switching for a couple of months to your small local charities, whichever sector they work in, and help them survive.

    Thank you

    Many thanks from Hedgehog Bottom
