We installed a hedgehog house about three weeks ago. To our delight a hedgehog has taken residence. In addition, over the weekend we have sighted a very small hedgehog, no more than 6 inches long. How old would this hedgehog be?

    Hi HedgehogHappy

You are so lucky that a hog has taken up residence in your hedgehog house so quickly.

It is difficult to tell how old a hedgehog is by length. They are very clever at shortening and lengthening themselves! It sounds as if it might be quite young, though – I would guess, one of this year’s hoglets, but already independent.
