Is Scottish tap water safe for hedgehogs?
-
Hello, I’m new to this forum and finding my way around so apologies if this has been asked already.
We have been lucky enough to have some hedgehogs (unsure whether 2 or 3) make a home in our garden and have been feeding them a combination of dry hedgehog food and mostly dry / some wet cat food. My question is about water – here in Scotland the tap water is good, but is it safe for the hogs to drink and should it be filtered/boiled etc?
Thanks in advance for any tips!
Jade
Hi Jade and welcome,
Great that you have hedgehogs in the garden, they can be quite addictive but well worth it, that is why we are here, as we care. As for the water, it will be perfectly safe for them to drink. Myself I don’t use wet cat food as this time of year, if not all eaten, flies will lay their eggs on it. Just a little advice. Hope you have a great season.
