At 6.30 this morning we were very surprised to find a little hedgehog (image to be provided) on the kitchen doormat! He seemed petrified until the Sainsbury’s ‘chicken breast terrine for cats’ came out, which he devoured with great enthusiasm!
What we cannot work out is how he got in, as there’s a pretty daunting set of granite steps down from the garden to negotiate, even before the doorstep … He seemed very healthy – around 4 inches long – so we returned him to the hedgehog house in the garden, which he was in two minds about at first, before finally deciding to go into the bushes.
(Overnight, our camera trap revealed an adult had visited the hedgehog house.)
Did we do the right thing?
