I purchased a trail cam to see what wildlife activity was going on in my large garden, the quiet corners especially. Picking up many hedgehogs after adding a little suitable food. Every night sees multiple individuals I’ve learned to identify, differentiating between males and females. The numbers have been increasing. At one point last night there were 6 in shot at once plus later in the night two, with one being what I’d describe as an adolescent I’d not seen previously. They come and go all night, my camera is recording up to 140 14 second videos per night. I see who gets on with who, witness mating behaviours, who’s skittish, who’s calm, who’s aggressive, who’s being smart and most welcome, who chooses to sleep in my garden. I’m so invested in them all.
