Last weekend I set up the House and Feeding Station I have built from timber donated by my grandson. They sit under a large field hedge at the back of my garden. Having seen lots of evidence of hedgehogs in the garden I thought I’d give them some help. My trail camera has picked up two Hedghogs visiting both the house and feeder, and having long drinks at the water bowl. I’m so pleased to be helping if in a small way.

    Hi DerkeLThomas

Sounds like you have been very industrious! I’m sure the hogs will appreciate them. You are lucky there have been visitors already – sometimes they don’t take to them until they become ‘part of the furniture’.

Ideally you would site a feeding station away from a box you hope to be used for nesting. That is partly so as not to attract predators to a nest site, but also to avoid ‘rowdy’ males potentially being outside a birthing nest – that sort of thing.

Glad to hear the hogs have made good use of the water provided.

Good luck and happy hog watching!
