Wild hedgehogs. Do females look noticeably slimmer after giving birth? I have a nightly visitor who is or was nicely plump. I recent days it looks decidedly slimmer, despite there being a good supply of natural food. It’s left me wondering if it’s a new mum. Any ideas? BS

It could well be a new mum – it’s that time of year.

On the other hand, the males sometimes get a bit thinner at this time of year as well – all that rushing around!
