odd behaviour tonight

One hog in a ball and another walking round and round it nudging it.. and climbing on it… is it mating?

I suspect it’s two males and one is very cross that the other is still there. But not always easy to be sure! I suppose it’s possible it’s a young female rolled up because she is not happy about his advances. Normally there wouldn’t be females around yet, but sometimes they haven’t hibernated and are still around, and other times ones who have been over-wintered may have been released.
I am assuming you didn’t see what happened in the run up to the rolling up.
