    Hi SnMuss

Just a word of advice. If you want to ask a question, it isn’t be best idea to put it on the end of a thread over 3 years old. It might be overlooked. The safest way of it being noticed is to start a new thread to ask your question.

I’m not sure I have understood your question, but if one hedgehog has blocked the entrance to the hog house, it’s unlikely to stay there long. There isn’t much you can do until it decides to move. I’m assuming you aren’t saying that the hedgehog is trapped in the entrance in some way?

My hedgehog emerged from hibernation from its box on 13 March. In the early hours of this morning, 20 March, it started refurbishing it’s nest by adding more leaves, straw. etc. Can anyone tell me whether this has any significance?

    Hi Herbie7036

I can’t be sure as to the reason, but, one possibility is that the hog may have decided that it hasn’t finished with hibernation yet. Hogs will emerge during the course of hibernation and replenish, or even move nests.

But maybe it just wanted it to be a bit more cosy for spending the day, when the weather is still quite cold in the very early mornings.

It seems a bit early for a hog to be making a birthing nest and would not be ideal using an previously used nest – due to the potential of external parasites.
