I have now set up my camera to take video clips – so funny to watch them, and now I think there may be 3! Last night 2 biggish hogs were chasing each other, ending up with one being rolled out of the garden under the hedgehog gap! The ‘winner’ almost turned round and did the winners salute with his paws in the air – not literally but you get the drift! Any way, lots of action last night from about 9.30 – minutes after I put their food out – right the way through to getting light at just after 5. Think I may need to set up another feeding station! Need to look more closely at the clips to see if I can identify individuals but just so happy to see them!

Last night there were 2 hogs under a shrub at the bottom of the garden, nose to nose and much grunting! I left them to get on with it – but added some extra food in case they needed it!

    yay for three!

I had three last year, I was astonished! I had left the lid off my rabbit run whilst I had been out for the evening, and when I came back and realised what I had done, I immediately flicked on my outside light. I’m not sure who was more shocked, the two hedgehogs at the sudden blast of light or me seeing two!

Not long after that there was three on the patio.

This year definitely two, one currently in hedgehog hospital, maybe more who knows?

    I need more trail cams!

Yes, I had three last August. I think we all get more visitors than we realise, often assuming different hogs are the same one we saw the night before.

I agree. Out of interest does anyone mark ‘their’ hedgehogs,?

    Hi Suzynic,

We only mark the ones we release. The others who visit the garden we leave as they are, but try and distinguish them by any unique markings and or behaviours they have, including size and colourations etc.
Any news on your hospitalised hog? I know the treatment can take a week or two to rid them of any major parasites.

    Hi Jan-Marie
Thanks, It’s not something I planned to do as I know there are some people are against it.
No news yet, I have rang but not heard back yet.
Unsure if the other hedgehog is still using the box, they weren’t about until quite late last night, although I haven’t checked my trail cam yet.
