Two hedgehog sightings in two weeks.

Easter Sunday, I found a lethargic youngster in our churchyard, Holy Trinity West Bromwich (B70 6LF). I boxed her up and took her to West Midlands Hedgehog rescue. Sadly, she died before midnight. Suspected hypothermia. Next time, I’ll have a hot water bottle ready.

Then, this evening, happily, a live and active hedgehog outside 20 Seckford Street, Woodbridge, IP12 4LY. (S)he scooted off into a garden.

We have a new hedgehog in the churchyard and vicarage garden in West Bromwich. Happy days. Have been leaving water and a little dog food out.

    Hi JNeilR

It’s great to hear about the new hog in the churchyard, although sad to hear about the first poor one. All we can do is our best and you gave it a chance. Sadly, they don’t all make it however good our intentions.

Let us know about any more progress. Churchyards can be good places for all sorts of wildlife and I’m sure any hogs would appreciate the addition of, especially, water. But, natural food is also extra hard to find in this hot dry weather so I imagine the food will be going down well, too. Lucky hogs! Hopefully They’ll realise they’re on to a good thing and you’ll see much more of them.

Good luck and fingers crossed for more happy hog days!
